He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?
— Micah 6:8

High School Ministries

King of Kings offers a foundational learning experience that prepares our students not only for their Confirmation day when they stand up in front of the church and confirm their faith in Jesus, but beyond. From Pre-K through 12th grade, we believe that all these years are an important part of our faith formation. For more details on this progression, please review the following:

9th Grade Connection Groups
9th Grade students meet primarily in small connection groups made up of their peers and a couple adult leaders.  These connection groups meet a few times each month, based on days and times that their schedules allow, and serve as a way to get more in-depth with the bible and faith topics. Groups, with the help of their leaders, will choose from a small library of options including video studies, books, and a session to prepare their faith projects.

9th Grade students will also sign up for two workshops offered during the year about “What do we do when someone dies?” and “How can I be a Godly leader?” To register for these workshops, please go to the 9th Grade Workshop registration page. Students will also attend one of two weekend retreats offered during the year. To register for a retreat, please go to the 9th Grade Retreat registration page.

Registering online is the first step for 9th grade; more details will be sent to registered families in late summer about how to select a connection group for you student, as well as how to register for workshops and retreats.

10th Grade Confirmation/Affirmation of Faith

October 29/30, 2016
October 28/29, 2017
October 27/28, 2018
October 26/27, 2019

Sunday Night Refuel

Sunday night Refuel gives students in 9th-12th grade the opportunity to connect with other high school students and expand their understanding of the Word and grow in their faith as they navigate their high school years. Sunday nights have a welcoming and fun atmosphere and all high school students are invited to come hang out with friends and be a part of our faith community.

Sunday Night Refuel meets in the Youth Room on Sunday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. year round.

Join us for 30 hours as we learn about hunger, serve together, and connect with God. Fasting gives us a small glimpse into the experience of food insecure people, but if you’re worried that you can’t make it without food that long, we can work out a plan for the event that works for you! Between serving in our community, small group time, The Hungry Games, and worship, 30 hours goes fast—so we’d love to have you join us!  Sign up by clicking on the icon at right.
On April 28–30, 9th grade confirmation students will head to Camp Wapo for the second confirmation retreat. The weekend focuses on the question “What do I Believe about God?” and each day is filled with faith talks, games, and fun times with friends. 9th grade students also attended this retreat in November 2016—creating a circle of understanding about the nature of who God is. Details have been sent to registered families, and registration is open online through April 19. Please contact Kelsey Battleson for additional details at kelsey.battleson@kingofkingswoodbury.org.
