Advent 3 – When Plans Change
Tuesday, December 18
Please read Acts 16:22-34
Have you ever had plans change and been challenged to look for the silver lining? How you react says a lot. God shows us how much.
By simply looking past themselves and their unjust imprisonments, Silas and Paul sing praises to GOD showing to all the prisoners and the guard their faithfulness to their sovereign God. Their soft moldable hearts show that they are after only one thing: giving God glory through everything they say and do.
Recognizing this, God opens doors, both literally and figuratively for the prisoners and the guard to be changed. This scenario went from being imprisoned in the inner most room to bringing the guard and his whole household to the foot of Jesus through baptism. We may not see our seeds grow in front of our eyes like Silas and Paul do, but GOD has a plan for those seeds.
We don’t know God’s plans or who will be affected by our trials/actions but know for sure that “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
Every word out of your mouth and every action affects others, whether we see it or not. Let us be the hands and feet of Jesus and spread God’s commandment to share the good news and to love one another as we would want to be loved.
