At King of Kings we believe that growing in faith is a lifelong journey. It’s a journey that starts when we enter into formal education in Pre-K and winds its way through Middle School, High School and beyond. 9thGrade at King of Kings is made up of 3 key parts: Connection Groups, Expressing your Faith, and a Retreat. Students are expected to participate in all three components during the year.

9th Grade Welcoming for Parents, Students, and Mentors will be sent out as an on-demand video this fall. Please contact Michael Carmack if you did not receive this email.

Connection Groups
Connection groups offer deeper relationships and a more in-depth look at topics that students are interested in and help select. Students meet 3x/month in small connection groups made up of 10-12 students and a couple adult leaders, based on days and times that their schedules allow. Groups, with the help of their leaders, will choose what to study each week from a library of curriculum.

Expressing your Faith
On the road to Confirmation, we help students learn how to express their faith through various ways like service, art, words, and prayer. This ends as each student is asked to put together a project that expresses their faith in preparation for confirmation. To walk with them in 9th grade as they work on their project students will:

  1. Complete an online workshop with a parent or other trusted adult.

  2. Create a faith project according to the guidelines that can be found by clicking here.

  3. Meet with a King of Kings staff person to discuss their project and confirmation experience.

Retreat
Students will also attend a weekend retreat offered on April 10th. Retreats offer a longer time frame to explore what we’ve learned about God and our faith, and give us the opportunity to get to know what to expect in high school ministries. Registration and payment for retreats will be SEPARATE from this 9th grade registration.
