The Giving Tree
November 9 – December 1
The Giving Tree is King of King’s annual toy collection event. This year, the toys that are collected will be donated to the Salvation Army, one of our local mission partners, who will use the toys at community toy shops for families in need throughout the Twin Cities.
The Giving Tree will be displayed in the Gathering Space with ornaments that will have a specific age range printed on them. You will have the opportunity to choose one or more ornaments, purchase the age-specific gifts, and then return them unwrapped to place under the tree. The age groups will be: 0-2, 3-5, 6-7, 8-10 and 10-14. The price breakdown will be less than $15 for small gifts and $16-25 for large gifts. Historically, the Salvation Army has had a lack of toys for ages 0-2 and 10-14.
New this year!
We will have “family gift” ornaments you can choose from the Giving Tree. When a family in need attends the Salvation Army
toy shop, they will get to pick a family gift in addition to their child’s gifts. The family gift table isn’t very well stocked and so our congregation will try to help with that. The ideal family gifts are board games or outdoor games ranging from $20-$25. At the end of the collection, our high school students will deliver the toys to the Salvation Army Warehouse in Roseville. Last year, the Salvation Army faced unfulfilled needs for toys, so are very grateful for our participation. Everyone is invited to donate as they are able.
