Project Description

Reopening & In-Person Worship

Click here for our multi-phased Reopening Plan that will gradually get us up to full operations at our facility while allowing us to accommodate needed changes or additional state stay-at-home orders, restrictions, and/or recommendations identified.
In-person worship services will look and feel slightly different but we pray that it is a meaningful experience. You can watch a short video on what to expect at Worship. There will be no Congregational singing at this time.

Click here to register for In-Person Worship on August 16. NOTE: Please select the number of people that will be attending worship when registering for your service choice. Registration for each weekend service will close at 11:00 a.m. on the Sunday of worship. A new registration will open for the following week at Noon on Sunday.

We will continue to provide an online experience for those who are more comfortable staying at home. These services will follow our new worship schedule (Sunday 9:00 and 11:00). We are thrilled to be gathering together both online and in person.

We missed all of you and are excited to slowly start to reopen our facility! We will open the church building on Monday, July 6, and the office hours will be 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. during this first phase as we acclimate to new changes and cleaning procedures. Until further restrictions are lifted, groups and ministry teams will continue to meet remotely.

During this time of limited office hours we would like to encourage scheduled appointments. As you enter the facility, new safety signage will be visible to promote physical distancing.

Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  —Philippians 4:6

General Information

The Coronavirus pandemic has called our church leaders to adapt and imagine church in different ways for a temporary period. While our practices have to adjust, our purpose and mission to “Feed Physical Hunger, Spiritual Hunger and the Hunger to be in Community” has not changed. Below you will find a multitude of resources to help your family stay engaged in church.

Consider gathering your family at normal worship times to worship and study together as if you were here. Don’t allow the on-site restrictions to impact the discipleship of you and your family. Please see our broadcast times to the right, or go to our Worship page to learn about more ways to watch.
One of the quickest and easiest ways to give at King of Kings is through online giving. And since we aren’t able to meet on-site, online giving becomes essential during this time. If you haven’t done so already, donate through PayPal by clicking on the DONATE NOW button at the bottom of the page, sign up for Simply Giving, or mail your check to the church.
As a community of faith we want to continue to care and support you during this time of social distancing. Please know that we are praying for all of you. If you have a private prayer that you do not want shared with our prayer chain please use the online care request form which will come directly to Sue Oberg and be shared only with Pastor Jon. This form can also be used to share an upcoming surgery or other needs you may have. Please remember that even though we aren’t physically together, we are united by one Spirit.

Our Congregational Care Team and other volunteers have been helping make calls to our congregation members over these last few months to check in and see how they are doing during this difficult time. We have made almost 800 calls.

Please know that we will continue to reach out to check on people in our congregation—and if you would benefit from a care call, please notify Sue Oberg or call her office at 651-289-8032 and leave a message and someone will get back to you. We want you to know that we care about you, we are praying for you, and would love to connect with you.

Spending time with God in prayer is an important part of our daily faith life. We encourage you to share your joys and celebrations, griefs and struggles to be lifted up in prayer by our prayer ministers. Family Prayer Walk / Scavenger Hunt
Prayer is something we all should be doing a lot these days! We certainly don’t lack in the things we can pray about. For the National Day of Prayer in May, we encouraged people to do a prayer walk around their neighborhood.  Even if you didn’t get to do it that day—pick another beautiful day to get out and walk/ride or drive around to pray for our neighborhood, city, country and the world! This fun guide is here to help you think of things to pray about and it is a fun thing to do with the kids! Get out and pray and have fun!

Resources for Students

We are continuing to upload content for you and your family, so be sure to keep checking back! In addition to the resources below, the ELCA’s Faith at Home page has more Christian resources.

I miss seeing the faces of all of our Kids of the Kingdom families throughout the weekend and on Wednesday nights. While we are staying at home to protect our loved ones that work the front lines and to make sure those who are sick get the proper care to get better, Kids of the Kingdom is still happening.

Each week, a new story video is posted with the story of the week. Children can grab their Spark Story Bibles to follow along with the story, even the older children. See the links below.

In addition, a Dropbox link is provided in the weekly email that is sent out on Mondays. In Dropbox are the age/grade level folders. Click on the folder for the ages/grades of your children. You can print out the leaflet and leader guide to walk them through their lesson at home. Or you can open the art or wild card extras for different activities that you can do as a family. Also included are the coloring or activity pages. Finally, you can continue to review the weekly lesson through the family time page. All of these resources will help us growing stronger in our faith.

Keep watching for God each and every day. God is at work, even during this pandemic. On our walk yesterday, we noticed a couple of homes with bright and colorful hearts in the windows. It brightened our spirits and reminded us that God is with us.

In the meantime, keep talking with God and we’ll see each other when it is safe for everyone.

We’ve put together these short devotional and conversation guides for you to use either on your own or at home with your family to help aid in talking about faith during this time, and to find comfort, hope, and encouragement in scripture.

Small Groups & Bible Studies

Our summer small groups are meeting via video conferencing.  If you have an interest in being a part of a group, or being connected to a social group please contact Sue Oberg.

Our hope is to have in-person small groups for the fall with an option to do it online—and of course if things change, we will move everything online. God’s GALS registrations are now open. More information about other groups will be added later in July and August, so keep your eyes open for different opportunities to engage with others in God’s Word and in fellowship.

God’s GALS: Missing Pieces
Real Hope When Life Doesn’t Make Sense

God’s GALS invites you to join us this fall for a 7-week study called Missing Pieces; Real Hope When Life Doesn’t Make Sense by Jennifer Rothschild. This study seeks to answer the questions we all face at times like: God do you care? God are you fair? God are you there? God are you aware? God to you hear prayer? And God do you err?

Because of all the uncertainties in our world today, the one thing we want to be certain of is God’s love, presence, justice, sovereignty, grace and perfection. This study will provide a safe place to answer those questions and deepen our trust in a God who is faithful.

Our hope is to meet in person while providing social distancing by utilizing larger rooms and/or decreasing small group size. We will be offering this study every other Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings. Please see the schedule.

If you would prefer a Zoom opportunity for your small group, please indicate that on your registration. If the need should arise, we are prepared to move all the groups to online.

Unfortunately, there will be no childcare available for any of these studies. We are hoping to have our nursery open again for the winter/spring semester starting in January.

When: Wednesdays & Fridays 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. / Saturdays 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Cost: $20.00 pay online or checks/cash can be mailed to King of Kings
Register: Click here to Register by August 28 for Friday and Saturday – or until group is filled. Register by Sept 9 for Wednesday – or until group is filled.

We will not be accepting any late registrations this year so please sign up early to guarantee your spot!

Contact Sue Oberg with questions.

For All Ages!

Join us for a 4-week online Bible study called Stay Connected: A Study of Colossians that you can do at your own pace. The letter to the church at Colossae is filled with connections—our connection to Christ through faith and the sufficiency of that union, and also our connection to each other as the body of Christ. In a time when we are separated, let’s stay connected by studying this amazing letter together!

Faith, Hope and Luck
Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Please note this is a live on-line interactive event.
Our faith can be fickle. When we feel our prayers have been answered, our faith in God will soar. But when we feel that God hasn’t come through, we find it harder to trust God. In this five-part series by Andy Stanley, you will learn to think differently about faith. You will hear a definition of faith that will help you read both Old and New Testament scriptures from a new perspective.
Email Jane Halbert to receive the Zoom information.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat…’ —Matthew 25:35

King of Kings continues to do ministry by caring for those in need. If you have questions about local missions, please email Susan Klosterman-Finke. There are opportunities highlighted on our home page. These are all following CDC guidelines. If you have questions about global missions, please email Elizabeth Hendrickson.

Please continue to pray for our partners in Honduras! They are under a quarantine order so everyone is to remain at home and only go out for necessities. The medical system is stressed and the coronavirus is continuing to spread throughout the country.

Linaje Escogido Church worships in two communities in Honduras, and they are posting their church services on their Facebook page, so check them out and join their worship! This is a wonderful opportunity to be the Global Church!

St. Margaret’s Academy resumed classes at the end of June, after a 3 month hiatus due to the coronavirus. Please keep the students and staff in your prayers as they return to school. The coronavirus remains a concern in their community, so please pray for everyone’s health and safety during their challenging times.

Dodoma Christian Medical Center is a new benevolence partner this year. DCMC is a 50-bed hospital in Central Tanzania that serves more than 100,000 patients each year. Click here to read the latest newsletter with updates from DCMC.
