Project Description
PURE JOY!
Our 2018 online summer study continues to be available for those looking to deepen their faith and would like to work on a bible study on their own time.
The book of Philippians is the “how to” have joy in all circumstances. The Apostle Paul wrote this letter to the church in Philippi from prison and yet you can still hear his joy in the Lord throughout this letter. Do you want more joy and contentment in your life? Are you tired of having your circumstances in life run your emotions and zap you of joy? Then this study is for YOU!
This 10-week study will take you through the entire book of Philippians. Each week consists of either a video or an article and you can further your study by doing the homework each week. Follow along at your own pace! If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact Sue Oberg, author of the study at sue.oberg@kingofkingswoodbury.org
ENJOY!
Make a more new posts please 🙂

Thank you very much Sue!
Thank you for this 10 week journey Sue. I enjoyed each lesson (even if it meant doing more than 1 lesson a week at times!) I appreciate all of the hard work you put into this study and wish you a blessed end of summer. Pattie
Thanks Pattie! So glad you liked that format! I enjoyed writing those and hoped it would be effective!
Loved the format of the homework for July 11 Sue! Thank you for these weekly “sessions” (even if I have been busy and it means doing 2 weeks in one day 🙂 )
Love that Patti! Serve as he served!
John 13:14-15
“For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. “If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
Jane, awesome verse! So true we draw even closer as we pray for one another!
Jen, I love that verse! One of my favorites! I love the fellowship and love we have in God’s GALS too! It’s been life changing for me!
Bonnie, thanks for joining us! Yes, there is an typo – it should be 1-4. Thanks for keeping a keen eye out! ????
As I sit on a rainy Sunday morning completing homework for week 3, I had to smile at how closely Philippians 2-1-2 mirrors what GODS GALS means to me! It really is what draws us close in friendship, fellowship, sisterhood and trust…. and keeps us coming back for more! So grateful!
I had a scripture to share and add to your list!
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
Isaiah 26:3
Thanks Sue for encouragement and leading us through the book of Philippians! 🙂
Peace and joy
Sue, I finally looked at the HW for this week. I have to be honest, as I haven’t done it for the first weeks—sorry. Might there be an error for John 14, vs 1-41? Could it be vs1-4 or 1-14? Thank you for all your work on this study.
I found this verse to add to Sue’s list, “If we are to love in the likeness of Christ, what would it look like?”
(per homework week 3):
Romans 1:9 — I remember you in my prayers at all times.
Looking forward to studying with you this Summer!!!
Patti
Julia, I am so glad you are doing this study with us! I know what you mean – it is difficult to separate being happy or just having a good time and this pure joy that God’s Word is talking about. As we move through the study this summer, it is my hope that we will do just that – get a better understanding of what this pure joy is! Make sure you check out the homework too! Thanks for sharing some of the things that fill your bucket! I love those things too – except I have a dog. 🙂
Sue, I look forward to this study. As I sit and think about the questions you posed for week 1, I am having trouble pinpointing what gives me joy. What really is “joy?” Is it when I truly laugh? Or share a personal message with a friend? Is it being with my loved ones? Or even just petting my cat?
I hope that this study helps me better define what “joy” really is.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts Jane and being in God’s Word with me this summer! I see many of the fruits of the Spirit within you – and I am so glad God planted me alongside of you in Bible study many years ago – your fruit helps me grow more and better fruit too! 🙂
I’ve finished my homework for Week 1! Such rich messages about God’s love for us, and the joy that is so abundantly available to us through the Holy Spirit. The homework is so applicable to the Bible verses Sue shared…now I am contemplating the blessings I’ve been given through the fruits of the Holy Spirit, and how I can more freely share these gifts!
I’m inspired by Sue’s joyful and spirited introduction to begin this summer study!
