Project Description

Advent Sermon Series 2018

As soon as the last turkey leg is put down, the gravy boat emptied and the dishes from our Thanksgiving meals put back in their place, the stores are hard at work setting up for Christmas. Familiar carols come on the radio and we begin looking for that perfect gift for that special someone.

While it seems that the world is preparing for Christmas, the church often waits to share the story of the birth of Jesus until Christmas Eve.

During the season of Advent (the four weeks leading up to Christmas) we will be looking at the events surround the birth of Jesus and how they continue to speak into our lives today. As we read this story in the light of how we may prepare to have company come over or prepare to go elsewhere to celebrate, we see this familiar story come to life.
