Send-off Blessing
During Sunday Worship on July 20th, we had a special blessing for our Tanzania travelers where we surrounded them in prayer. Past Tanzania travelers were also recognized.
What our travelers are looking forward to:
Pam & Dan Hoeffel: We’ve been to Africa before, but never Tanzania. We’re looking forward to connecting with all the new people we’ll meet!
Deb & Bob Bowman: We have not been to Africa before. We look forward to connecting with the people at the Kilolo parish, the schools, orphanage, and hospitals. We don’t know what we are going to see and experience at many of the places that Daudi (missionary in Arusha) is taking us and are excited about that also. We have the chance to experience personal contact with community members and not be tourists.
Lori Rosenow: I’ve never been to Africa, but I’m really excited to go. I always said that once I retire as a teacher, I’ll go, and luckily for me… this trip is happening in the summer. I look forward to jumping into the culture, smelling all the good scents, seeing the vibrant colors, and just soaking up everything Tanzania has to give.
Merary Garcia: I have not been to Africa before. I’m looking forward to being able to make a difference in someone’s life and in my life. I’m excited to make connections with people who share my same belief.
What their prayer requests are:
Pam & Dan Hoeffel: Please pray for the general safety and health of the team as we travel. Pray that the team allows the Holy Spirit to speak to us, guide our actions, and provide us with the right words to speak.
Deb & Bob Bowman: Pray that we remember to keep Christ at the center of our trip, and that we build relationships with those we meet as well as our fellow travelers. Also, prayers for health and safety is always something any traveler can use.
Lori Rosenow: I would greatly appreciate the congregation’s prayers for our continued health and safety. That we enjoy our time there to the fullest. Additionally, I hope we can create lasting memories and share updates with the congregation while we are there and upon our return.
Merary Garcia: Prayer requests- Safety and wisdom for our group. Strength and clarity to be able to see and receive what God has in store for us. New experiences with new people. A grateful and open heart for sure. 🙂
What they are going to be sure to pack:
Due to internal Tanzanian air plane travel, each traveler is limited to 40 pounds between their luggage and carry-on. These are the most important things they are bringing with…
Pam Hoeffel: My passport and jelly beans!
Deb & Bob Bowman: A camera and digital bible.
Lori Rosenow: I am going to go with an open mind, a camera, and lots of patience to be okay with whatever we happen to encounter. Oh… and I have a lot of books to listen to on the long flight there and back.
Merary Garcia: I’m going over the packing list– hopefully all the essentials!
