The Lenten season is a time for reflection, repentance, and spiritual growth. For 40 days, from Ash Wednesday to Maundy Thursday, Christians are invited to step back from daily routines, engaging in prayer and fasting as Jesus did in his time in the desert. This journey is meant to clarify our sense of purpose and deepen our relationship with God, just as Jesus experienced on his journey.
Lent in 2026 runs from February 18 to April 2. At King of Kings, we invite you to dedicate this season to spiritual growth within our community. Engage with our selection of Bible verses for Lent, participate in our services, or access our Lent devotional to experience renewal together.
The Power of Reflection in the Bible
What Is Reflection?
Biblical reflection involves introspection and self-examination through God’s word. Christians meditate on Scripture to guide their lives according to God’s direction.
What Does the Bible Say About Reflection and Self-Examination?
The Bible teaches that reflection and self-examination draw believers closer to God and help align with His will, emphasizing repentance and seeking forgiveness.
Why Reflect During Lent?
Lent is a time to pause, renew, and realign with God’s will, as Jesus did in the desert.
Bible Verses for Lenten Reflection
Isaiah 40:31

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Reflection: In a fast-paced world, it’s easy to want control. Will you trust God to renew your strength during this sacred season? Trust requires letting go and putting full faith in Him.
Romans 12:2
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Reflection: Transformation begins with a renewed mindset in Christ. How will you let God transform you this Lent? Are your thoughts and attitudes aligned with God’s Word?
2 Corinthians 13:5
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?”
Reflection: Assess the depth of your faith in Christ. Like Jesus facing temptation in the desert, reflect on life’s challenges. Are you living according to His teachings or just claiming Christian faith?
Isaiah 58:6-7
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?”
Reflection: Are you intentional with your Lenten fasting and sacrificing? Reflect on the true nature of fasting and how it can lead to acts of justice and mercy.
Lamentations 3:40
“Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.”
Reflection: In this verse, we are called to repent and return to God through honest self-examination. Where have you drifted from His path? Is your repentance sincere, or just an outward act?
James 1:23-25
“Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.”
Reflection: It’s not enough to consider God’s word – we must also apply it. How can you bring God into daily life and make your Lenten changes lasting?
